Linwood garden

Encaustic painting on wood panel, 12” x 6” x 1.5”

This piece was painted outside at the Linwood Garden, a privately owned family estate outside of Geneseo, NY. This estate is known for its collection of “tree peonies” they are beautiful small tree/bushes all over the property. This view looks out into the valley that faces Geneseo, where the State College is located. It was such a nice experience to capture a landscape scene that is changing as the light shifts and the clouds shift while you are painting instead of using a photograph.
